Will Dr. Dre Compete for Archery Gold in 2028 Olympics?

Dr Dre
The word is out – Dr. Dre loves to shoot a bow. Even more, the recent Olympic games seemed to have sparked his competitive side, and he now says he wants to shoot for archery gold in the 2028 Olympic games.

That’s right! In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 59-year-old rapper shared his interest in competing on the USA archery team when the Olympics come to LA in 2028.

Will Dr. Dre Compete For Archery Gold In 2028 Olympics?

When the interviewer jokingly asked what he’s trying out for in the next Olympic games, without hesitation, Dre replied with, “archery.” And if you’re wondering if he’s serious about the claim, his next statement seemed to remove all doubts.

“I’m dead-ass serious,” he said.

And don’t think this archery interest just popped up following this year’s Olympic games. Dre has actually been shooting a bow for quite some time.

“I started playing around with archery in junior high,” he says. The rapper went on to say that he got out of it for a while, but the gift of archery gear from his son got him back in the game.

“My son bought me a set-up. I don’t know if it was for my birthday or Father’s Day or something like that – so I have it set up in my backyard,” added Dre.

Why does Dre think he has what it takes to compete in archery at the Olympic games?

“I heard qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet, and I practice at 90, he said in the interview.”

So should Brady Ellison be concerned about Dre vying for the top spot in archery in the years to come? Probably not.

Would this be good for archery? Absolutely!

“It would definitely be an opportunity to appeal to an entirely different demographic for sure,” says outdoor media guru, Chuck Belmore. “I love seeing anything outdoor related showcased across cultural boundaries.”

Who knows? Maybe Dr. Dre will be the Ted Nugent of the rap music industry one day. Time will tell. Until then, shoot straight, Dr. Dre.
