Description
The FN 509 Tactical Semi-Auto Pistol is a modified result of the Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition for the US military. The tactical model includes significant improvements for tactical or personal defense use. A 1/2″ x 28 threaded barrel allows for the attachment of suppressors (includes thread cap); and suppressor-height night sights allow you to sight over an attached suppressor. An FN Low Profile Optics Mounting System enables the attachment of commercially-available, miniature red dot optics (MRD), with no required milling of the slide. The slide cap, for use when not shooting with an optic sight, has raised sight wings that protect the rear sight, and provides a textured ramp for racking the slide against a belt loop, pant pocket, or boot. All FN 509 pistols feature an enhanced grip texturing scheme, where parts of the grip are textured to be grittier where needed and smoother where excessive texture can become abrasive. The grip portion of the polymer frame can be adjusted to fit the user’s hand perfectly with 2 interchangeable backstraps. The striker-fired, DAO trigger pull on the 509 semi-automatic pistol is short and smooth, with a positive reset. Several safety features incorporated into the trigger prevent the pistol from firing unless the trigger is pulled all the way to the rear and the slide is all the way forward. The 509 has no magazine safety. The magazine release and slide release are easy to reach and fully ambidextrous. Includes 5 magazines.
