Description

Introducing the Cimarron Richards Transition model, a meticulous replica of the historical breech-loading revolver developed by Charles B. Richards in 1871. This innovative design allowed Colt to convert existing percussion, front-loading revolvers to a modern self-contained cartridge system, making it an economical solution for updating their firearms. With approximately 9000 Richards Transition models manufactured between 1871 and 1878, this revolver quickly became popular in the Western territories due to its affordability and modernization. Wild Bill Hickok was famously believed to have carried Richards conversions in his later years, further solidifying the model’s legendary status. To ensure authenticity, Cimarron worked from an original in our antique collection to create a detail-perfect replica of the type II or Richards 2nd model Conversion. This exquisite firearm features the early Richards ejector, along with the Richards-Mason conversion ring, gate and hammer. Available in a Standard Blue finish, you can choose between an 8 inches round barrel or a cut-down 5-1/2 inches round barrel, reminiscent of many well-used specimens from the 19th century. The revolver is offered in several calibers, including .38 Colt/.38 Special, .44 Colt/.44 Russian and .45 Colt/.45 Schofield. Regardless of the chambering or barrel length, these six-shooters not only capture the appearance of the originals but also deliver the handling characteristics that made them beloved by shooters of their time. Reproduced by Uberti for Cimarron, each piece reflects the craftsmanship and historical significance of the era. Experience the rich legacy of the Old West with the Cimarron Richards Transition model!.
