The Taipan TM19-384 by AGM Global Vision is a compact thermal imaging monocular bristling with features. It comes equipped with a Vanadium Oxide Uncooled Focal Plane Array, 12 m high sensitivity detector with 384×288 resolution. This allows the TM19-384 to detect sources of heat up to 897 meters away in complete darkness. These heat signatures are displayed on a 0.4-inch 1280×960 LCOS monitor, which can be viewed in four different color palettes: white hot, black hot, red hot, and fusion. White hot displays sources of heat as white over a predominantly dark background, while black hot shows sources of heat as black over a predominantly white background. Red hot displays heat as red – the higher the temperature, the redder the image. Fusion displays sources of heat with lighter colors. From highest temperature to lowest temperature, the fusion palette’s image is colored from white, yellow, red, pink, to purple with white being the hottest and purple being the coldest. The TM19-384 features an impressive 50Hz refresh rate for smooth, lag-free scanning. This makes the TM19-384 excellent for scanning an area to detect heat signatures, then using a rifle-mounted or handheld night vision optic to identify them. Other functions of the TM19-384 include highest temperature target tracking that identifies and marks the point of highest temperature, and distance measurement that calculates the distance after marking the top and bottom of a target and inputting the target’s height. In addition, the TM19-384 comes with 8 GB of internal storage for capturing video and photos, which can then be transferred to your PC via USB cable.
