Using the shorter cartridges means more shells can be loaded into the tube, with standard models featuring a 9+1 capacity and select models boasting a staggering 13+1 capacity (when using 1.75-inch shells). The 590S is available in multiple configurations, including the short Shockwave model, tactical models with ghost-ring sights and M-LOK attachment points, and tactical models with MAGPUL furniture and Holosun micro red dot sights. Like the other shotguns in the 500 family, the 590S comes standard with a set of dual extractors, twin action bars, and an anti-jam elevator.
