For 50 years the Browning Citori has been revered by hunters and target shooters alike; ranking among the toughest, most reliable, best handling, and most beautiful over and under shotguns available. None of these accolades come as a surprise, however, as the foundation of the Citori is the Superposed, designed by none other than John M. Browning – a man widely regarded as the greatest gun designer in history. Although not the first over and under shotgun, the Superposed was the first commercially successful model. John M. Browning himself was a shotgun enthusiast, and imagined the Superposed with the notion that a single sighting plane and single, selective trigger would prove superior to other twin barrel shotguns of the era.
