Our Throw & Grow No-Till Forage seed blend is easy-to-establish and fast-growing with no disking or minimal time commitment required-simply mow the plot low to the ground and remove any heavy grass residue to ensure the seed contacts the soil. It’s as simple as that. This mixture of Tetraploid annual ryegrass, arrowleaf and crimson clovers and forage rape performs well in a wide variety of soil types, even those that are moderately acidic, and serves as a valuable food source for deer all season long. Annual ryegrass establishes quickly to provide ample early-season forage that’s rich in vital nutrients and minerals, while the clover mixture serves as a high-protein source throughout the fall, winter and spring. During the early season, forage rape provides a high-protein food source and, after a heavy frost, ample sugar content to help deer pack on the extra body fat needed to survive winter’s harshest weather. And, because it matures so quickly, hunters and other land managers will enjoy as much as ¼ of an acre of ground coverage (the equivalent of 11,000 square feet) in just short of no time flat.
