The Southern Ground Hunting podcast heads west this week. Parker and his Dad recap a successful turkey hunt to the desert of west Texas. While we’re usually talking about hunting turkeys on public land, most people know that it’s nearly not even doable to do so in Texas. Usually, people who want to mark Texas off the list have to settle for an outfitter, which can be very expensive. However, we were able to find a couple of different properties to hunt for $0 by just making a few phone calls. Turkey culture in Texas is just altogether different. Parker admits that he did not appreciate the wild turkey while being raised out there, but it was time to come back to the old stompin’ grounds to pay this bird the respect it deserves. If you’ve never given Texas a shot, you really should consider it. We promise you won’t regret it!
